Pappa continued his impressive rookie campaign at the high banked 5/8th mile oval dodging countless yellow flags on his way to another top 10 finish. Matt lined his No. 20 Jr. Teo Chassis race car in the 19th starting position. Pappa Back on Track with

Three Races in Two Days

Matt Pappa passed more cars in one weekend then he probably had in the previous 8 races in his rookie season. Pappa kept his cool and roared to a second place finish in just 12 laps. “I needed two more laps,” stated Pappa. Saturday night Pappa lined up 20th for the 20 lap race at Lebanon Valley and continued to pass cars on his way to the front. When the checkered flag flew Matt was side by side with the 4th place runner scoring a hard earned 5th place finish.

Lights Out, Flip and Flat Tire

Makes for Wild Weekend for Pappa

On Saturday night Pappa got pinched into the fence in his heat race and rolled his No. 20Jr. race car in a violent flip. “My guys were incredible,” said Pappa. “After seeing what the car looked like when we got back in the pits I thought no way will we race.” Pappa quickly began picking off cars but slight contact on lap 12 gave Pappa a flat tire after moving all the way up to 11th place. Again his Brett Hearn crew got him back out and he rebounded for a hard fought 11th place finish.

in 1st Race at Albany Saratoga

On a re-start with just a few laps to go running 2nd Matt hooked bumpers with the leader causing an instant caution. Matt was placed to the rear with the leader getting his spot back. In 1st Ever Dirt Sportsman Race

Pappa Soars to 4th Place Finish

Pappa used the heat race as a test and followed the field around the 5/8th mile oval in preparation for the feature event. He lined his black and yellow “Junior Jet” up in 22nd starting position in the 32 car Dirt Sportsman field. When the green flag dropped it was obvious to the packed house that the sophomore at nearby Columbia High School would be a force to be reckoned with this season. He darted his way through the field both high and low having some fans wondering why Brett Hearn was racing in the Sportsman Feature, but it was his 15 year old teammate that was putting on the show.

Matt Pappa Ready for 2014 to Swing into Action

Nassau, NY- (April 16, 2014) Matt Pappa has waited over five months for Saturday April 19th when he will buckle into his No. 20Jr. Dirt Sportsman at the Lebanon Valley Speedway for his first race of his sophomore season.

“It’s been a long five months,” said Pappa. “We ended the season with a great deal of confidence and I have been not so patiently waiting to get back behind the wheel. Brett and the guys worked hard over the winter to give me a great machine and I can’t thank them enough for their hard work.”

Pappa will race the entire Lebanon Valley Sportsman schedule in hopes of improving on his third place finish in the 2013 points battle at the high banked 5/8ths mile clay oval. Matt got to shakedown his Teo Chassis Brett Hearn Enterprises prepared racer at Orange County Speedway early in April but the talented teen can’t wait to get back to his home track.

“Last year was a great learning season and we had a good year but I feel like I learned so much that I can now translate what I learned from Brett in 2014 into winning results. Winning Rookie of the Year was awesome but as a team we want to win the championship at the Valley and it all starts Saturday.”

This is Pappa’s second season teaming with Brett Hearn and in 2013 Pappa showed flashes of brilliance to the 8-time Super DirtCar champion. “Matt did a really good job in his rookie season,” stated Hearn. “I believe that he will do even better this year. He impressed me with his car control and we’ve talked about a number of areas that he can improve. I’m looking forward to a great season for TeamTwenty.”
