He lined his black and yellow “Junior Jet” up in 22nd starting position in the 32 car Dirt Sportsman field. Matt Pappa Falls One Spot Short in Eastern States Thriller

Middletown, NY –(October 24, 2014) Matt Pappa made the most of his final race of the 2014 racing season when he powered his way to a runner-up finish in the 50 lap sportsman race at the Orange County Fairgrounds Speedway on Friday evening. This was the 17 year old sensation’s second visit to the 5/8ths mile clay oval and he had high hopes for a great finish after testing at the track early in the 2014 season.

The Eastern States weekend is one of the most historic races of the year and Pappa got off to a great start by winning his heat race lining him up 9th for the tough 50 lap grind. At the drop of the green Pappa started blasting his way to the front and going for fifth he tangled with another car making the rest of the race quite an adventure.

“When I was passing for fifth a guy came down on me and knocked my rear end out of whack,” stated Matt. “The rest of the race I was driving down the straightaway sideways. It was crazy but I still made my way up to second.”

This was Pappa’s best finish at Orange County and TeamTwenty almost had a clean sweep of the weekend with teammate and mentor Brett Hearn winning both the small block and big block races on Saturday and Sunday.

“I really wanted to win,” exclaimed Pappa. “Brett won both races last year at Eastern States and I knew he would be tough to beat this year. I can’t thank Brett and my guys for such a great car. My parents have been amazing as they are every year for me and my sponsors are what make this whole thing happen.”

Matt’s plans are up in the air for next year as to what division he will be racing. Stay tuned to find out.

“My highlight of the weekend was Sunday in Victory Lane when Brett mentioned that it was such a great weekend for our team,” said the jubilant racer. “Hearing him mention me being interviewed was very cool.”

Matt Pappa Ready for Eastern States Weekend 2014 at Orange County

Nassau, NY- (October 21, 2014) Matt Pappa is looking to end his sophomore campaign behind the wheel of his Brett Hearn Racing Enterprises No. 20 Jr. on a high note this coming weekend at the Orange County Fairgrounds Speedway in Middletown, NY. Pappa is coming off a strong Top 5 finish at the Fulton Speedway a few weeks back and has high hopes for his return to Orange County.

“I actually got to test at Middletown before the season,” stated Pappa. “We had a great test and I know that will help me this weekend. I like the track and think we will have a great run.”

Pappa finished 17th in his rookie season at the 2013 Eastern States weekend and feels that last year’s race will help him prepare for Friday night’s 50 lap sportsman main event.

“I learned so much during the race and Brett and I talked at great length about what I did right and where I can improve. I am really looking forward to the challenge.” added the senior at Columbia High School in Nassau, NY

Matt Pappa and Brett Hearn are completing their second full season as teammates and nothing would make Pappa happier than to experience victory lane at the hard clay of Orange County.

“Brett is so good at Orange County, “exclaimed Matt. “It was actually this weekend in 2012 that I met Brett for the first time and got to spend the weekend with his team. That weekend Brett won both the small block and big block races…maybe this weekend TeamTwenty can make it a clean sweep.”

Matt Pappa Excited to Return to Fulton Speedway for Industrial Tire CNY Sportsman Shootout

Nassau, NY- (September 24, 2014) It was one year ago that Matt Pappa made his first trip to Fulton Speedway to participate in the Industrial Tire of Central New York 50 lap sportsman shootout. Pappa was wrapping up his rookie season behind the wheel of his Brett Hearn Racing Enterprises No. 20 Jr. after capturing the Rookie of the Year title at the Lebanon Valley Speedway. Matt made the trip north having never even seen the speedway prior to the racing event. “Last year was such a great run for our team at Fulton,” beamed Pappa. “I came from 21st to 2nd in 50 laps after winning one of the last chance races and had to pass some great cars to my way to the front. After last years’ experience I am hoping to get a better starting spot and going for the win.” “Matt did a great job at Fulton last year,” added team owner Brett Hearn. “It might have been his best race of the year and I know Matt is really excited to return and challenge for the win.” Matt recorded a third place in points in the Budget Sportsman division at Lebanon Valley this season. The talented senior at Columbia High School also picked up his first win on the high banks at the Valley in 2014. Consistency was the key for Pappa never finishing out of the Top 10 all season long at Lebanon Valley. “It’s been a good year,” lamented Pappa. “We’ve done a little traveling after the season ended at the Valley and had a couple of tough races. I am really pumped for Fulton and then the Eastern States Weekend at Orange County Speedway to wrap up the year.” For more information on Matt Pappa Racing please call Rolfe Schnur at 954-224-8661.
